Android 14 will allow to convert physical SIM card to eSIM and transfer eSIM between different devices

Information has surfaced that Google may be preparing to move to eSIM after Apple did so in iPhone 14 for the U.S. Hidden settings in Android 14 Developer Preview 1 indicate that the company may add the ability to convert a physical SIM card to eSIM. XDA Developers editors and Android experts have discovered a new "Convert to eSIM" option. The page that accompanies this option seems to be incomplete, as the text appears in the search interface rather than in a special menu.
The SIM to eSIM conversion feature will not be available for every SIM card and probably not in all countries. Carriers will have to support the activation of these new eSIMs, so it may take some time before the feature is widely supported by most mobile operators.
It's worth noting that transferring eSIM between devices is not part of the eSIM specification, so it remains to be seen if the feature will only work on Pixel phones or if other Android phones will also get support for it.
